The ADJEI-KOJO police command is investigating the death of an 11-month-old child missing last Wednesday.

The boy reportedly disappeared in Adjei-Kojo, Tema West municipality, Greater Accra area.

The boy was reported missing last Wednesday but was found dead in his skeptical tank on Friday afternoon.

According to the information available to DGN Online, a resident saw the corpse in the sewer plate around 2.30 pm and sounded the alarm that drew residents into the area before the police were called.

The child disappeared while playing with his older brother.

His family suspected that he had been robbed by a lady who had cheated on her brother telling him that his father was calling him and who had taken the child.

Abdul Razak Mohammed, uncle of the stolen boy, said: "He was taken from his home between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm.

According to the older brother, they were playing outside when a lady came to see him and said that his father was calling him.

When the father asked where was the little brother and they both rushed outside, the little boy was not there, he said.

He added that the lady who had told her that her father was calling her was not there either.

He said "Then we badumed that it is the lady who took the baby."

Confirming over the phone the unfortunate discovery of DGN Online, Superintendent Sandra Adjei, commander of the Adjei-Kojo District Police Command, said that "yes, the child was found but he was found dead in a pit in the area ".

Some suspects – mainly Nigerians – were arrested as a result of the incident and are in custody to badist in the investigation.

She said: "We are currently investigating the matter to establish certain facts, so I do not want to say more."

According to her, "the people in detention have 48 hours, so we are investigating the case".

In the meantime, the body was deposited at the morgue of Tema General Hospital for autopsy and preservation.
