ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC / CNN) – A New York mother mourns the death of her three-year-old son after he falls into a grease trap and is choked at a Tim Hortons restaurant.

Mother Tenitia Cullum, who works at a Tim Hortons in Rochester, NY, told her 3-year-old son, Bryce Raynor, to work with her last Monday after childcare arrangements were made. failed.
"It was not the first time he came with me to work, and it was the first time, so I brought it with me," she said.
But only hours after the start of the day, Cullum did not find the 3-year-old boy and reported his disappearance.
"I turned around to catch the other boxes, and when I turned around, I did not see it," said the mother.
Police responded around 11 am
A witness found Bryce in the grease trap located in an open area at the back of the restaurant and attempted to have a CPR on the premises. The boy was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the grease tank lid was plastic and was not secure on the trap diameter. They believe that Bryce walked on the unsecured lid, causing him to open and trap him.
Cullum says that she wants people to remember her son for his happiness.
"He knew what he wanted: very sparkling, very affectionate, very indulgent, very active. He was just a very bubbly spirit, a very loving spirit, "said Cullum.
Police announced last Tuesday that no charges would be laid against the mother in connection with the incident.
"She was working from her time and, like most parents at one time or another, including myself, apparently had no one to supervise her child," said investigator Frank Camp at Rochester Police Department. "It was a terrible and terrible tragedy that occurred in a few seconds."
Following the death of Bryce, two members of the New York State Assembly introduced new legislation regarding the safety of grease traps, calling for more robust materials for traps, a safety and annual inspections.
