The woman suspected of inflicting bodily harm on a 5-year-old boy, resulting in amputation of her hand, was brought to trial on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, in a District Court of Appeal. Abura Dunkwa Kwamankese.

Efua Abaduwa was charged with provisional detention and was subsequently placed in pre-trial detention until 14 February 2019.

The victim's father, David Mensah, 36, was also arrested. He was also remanded in custody by the same court and reappeared on the same date.

Mr Mensah has also been provisionally charged with committing a crime, reported Richard Kojo Nyarko, a reporter in the Multimedia field.

Meanwhile, the victim has undergone surgery at Cape Coast University Hospital where she is currently admitted.

Efua Abaduwa and her 5-year-old son-in-law went to the farm when the son took the lead and defecated on the farm.

Efua said while realizing what her son had done, she wanted to hit him with a cutlbad but she accidentally ended up cutting her hand.

According to her story, she would have tried to treat the wound with hot water, but the boy would not have obliged.

However, Isaac was only sent to the hospital when two other people who went to the village saw him and took him to welfare.
