A heartbroken mother issued a warning after her three-month-old baby died of a rare heart virus.

Little Lewin Hodgins suffered from illness and diarrhea and developed a rash.

He was treated for meningitis, but died a few days later.

Hull Live says that he contracted a virus that eventually went through his heart and turned into viral myocarditis, a rare disease.

Doctors say the victims have "flu-like symptoms".

Mum Kirsty, 28, spoke of death for the first time and recalled the heartbreaking moment that Lewin suffered a heart attack last November.

"When Lewin had a cardiac arrest, it was very unexpected – it happened when I held him in my arms when I had just spent time with my little girl," said the mother. two children.

Lewin was born healthy last August but became ill in November

"Khyle [Kirsty’s partner] was with him but I had just arrived and it happened in this half hour. I felt that he had been waiting to see me.

"We only discovered in February that Lewin had actually suffered from viral myocarditis, which is quite rare and can happen to anyone, no matter what age, but in one baby, it's usually impossible to survive. "

Lewin has made models for Mama's and Dad's and can be seen on some of their products.

Khyle and Kirsty, from Hull, are also parents of the little Avayah

"Lewin was really tacky but he was very affectionate and loved hugs," Kirsty added.

"It was a smiling baby and we all fell head over heels for he was so loving."

Kirsty and Khyle, 29, had to stay strong for their daughter Avayah despite their desperate defeat.

The family, from Hull, will now host a fundraising day to celebrate what would be his first birthday next month.

Kirsty said, "Honestly, I dreaded Lewin's birthday, but we wanted to do something to mark it.

"What happened to Lewin was so unexpected and left us devastated, nothing to suggest that there was something wrong until a few days before his death."

"Lewin died just two days before Avayah's birthday, so we had to take a brave face for her.The only reason we acted was because of our daughter. We had to go on for she.

"At first, it was really hard to explain to her what had happened, but she is beginning to understand. She says her brother is in heaven and that she talks about him almost every day . "

The family raises funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), which has helped them in recent months.
