A Beijing woman finds feathers in McDonald's chicken wings, East Asia News & Top Stories

SINGAPORE (ASIA) – First, it was a disinfectant, now it's feathers.

McDonald's customers in China have recently discovered strange products in their fast food dishes.

More recently, a woman in Beijing said her daughter had taken a bite out of her McWings and found feathers in her meal.

The sight made the girl nauseated. But by that time, she had already eaten three chicken wings.

They were part of a take-out meal bought on the evening of 21 April.

Although she did not show signs of illness, the incident affected her appetite.

Her mother went to the restaurant to alert them of her discovery but refused the compensation offered by McDonald's.

"The feathers were still attached to the chicken wing, and we have questions about how the restaurant manages food security," she told the Chinese press.

The woman then filed a report with the state's Food and Drug Administration.

Some Weibo users, however, have doubts about the incident, stating that the feathers would not look like the ones on the photos if they were in the deep fryer.

Another user suggested that it could be a case of food sabotage by a restaurant owner.

On April 23, the fast food giant apologized to customers and said it was currently reviewing the business and that it would improve restaurant management.
