A draft law on public universities presented to public universities for their contribution has elicited mixed reactions among a part of the public and stakeholders, university lecturers as well as politicians.
Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, former Minister of Education and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, is the last to be pronounced against the bill.

Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Minister of Education, rejected the bill despite the majority rejection of the proposal, saying the reactions were premature because this document was only a draft and even not at the drafting stage of a bill.
