The co-founder of Norfolk Brewhouse, David Holliday, is committed to pushing a 50-kg beer barrel 200 km from Hindringham to London to raise funds for testicular cancer.

Holliday wrote on his company's website how an occasional draft on Twitter had resulted in the plan to roll beer from the brewery up to St Bart's Hospital in central London.

Holliday hopes to raise funds for the It's On The Ball Charitable Foundation and the St. Bart's Hospital Cancer Team.

He is committed to the challenge in memory of Fred Riseborough, a student and beer lover in the area, who died of a germ cell tumor (which causes testicular cancer) last May.

The brewery also created a beer in his honor, called Fred's Check, which will be the beer of choice for the barrel to London.

Holliday wrote: "Last week, I rather casually said on Twitter that if we won the Producer Award of the year the cooperative is from England, which was voted by the audience from the East-England region, it would tell me that I would put a barrel of our charity Fred's Check A 201 km from the brewery, in Hindringham – at St Barth's Hospital in central London.

"The problem is that once it was put on the market, some people commented that it would be a great thing to do, and there were several offers of help.

"So, to get straight to the point, we will commit ourselves to the challenge."

Holliday admitted that this business would require a lot of planning and aims to plan a 10-day "push" for March 2020.

"There is a lot of planning. For beginners, choose a safe route to push the barrel – I'm not sure the authorities will appreciate seeing me push beer along the M11, "he said.

He added that he had approached local brewer Norman Lamb to find out if a glbad of this beer could be raised in parliament.
