A British soldier pursues the army after catching the "fever Q" of a sheep in Afghanistan

A veteran is suing the army after catching the "Q fever" on the front in Afghanistan.

Wayne Bbad, 34, claims to have been infected while he was protecting himself from Taliban fire in ditches filled with sheep droppings.

Humans contract Q fever by inhaling dust contaminated by infected animals.

In a pilot case, he claims that the army did not provide any drugs against the disease during his stay in Helmand from October 2011 to April 2012.

After returning home to Birmingham, he fell ill in May 2012, heard the County Court of London.

He still suffers from fatigue and blackout and, unable to work, he was fired from the army in 2014.

Theo Huckle, on behalf of Mr. Bbad, said: "His case is that the MOD has not managed to manage the relevant risks."

Ben Collins QC, of ​​the Department of Defense, said that Bbad only took half of his malaria pills and wondered if he would have been more likely to take Doxycycline, a Fever brand drug.
