A broken-hearted family reveals that a 13-year-old girl from Kentucky died of an infection at STREP just two hours after she began noticing symptoms at a pom-pom competition girls

The results of the autopsy revealed that the Kentucky teenager, who fell suddenly sick and died in February, had been killed from a strep infection.
13-year-old Lilliana Schalck's family on Friday revealed the devastating cause of death, hoping that publicizing "could help avoid a similar outcome for someone else" .
Schalck had ten minutes to perform at a cheerleading competition in Ohio on February 23, when she started complaining of weakness and tingling in her feet.
Just two hours later, the eighth grader at Fort Thomas, Kentucky, was declared dead after being transported to the hospital.
In a statement shared with ABC, her family wrote: "An underlying Strep infection has overwhelmed her immune system without warning, if at all, and has yielded catastrophic results.
"We would not wish this nightmare to anyone.
Two months after her death, an autopsy revealed that Lilliana Schalk had been killed by a serious strep infection.
An autopsy report showed that Lilliana had an extensive infection with Group A Streptococcus (GAS).
GAS is the same bacterium that in minor cases can cause strep throat. However, Schalck's case was much more serious.
Although knowing now what has killed the beloved teenager, Schalk's family says that the responses provided have not alleviated their pain.
"We are always heartbroken and we appreciate the respect we have received so far, and we ask to continue in the same way to focus on his life and his legacy, as well as on our life without it – as importunate as it is. "

Schalk's devastated father spoke to ABC and wondered if he could have done anything to stop him from going through.
Shortly after Schalk's death, his father Dan, confused, told ABC that he "continued to watch the following events of the day … trying to see if there was anything I missed it.
It was sad to have first thought that his daughter was dehydrated. He therefore took it apart and gave it liquids, but it started to weaken and no longer behave normally.
The nurses at the cheerleaders 'place took the girl to the emergency room of the children' s hospital, where she died soon after.
Lilliana, who dreamed of a college cheerleader and eventually became a primary school teacher, was buried in her blue uniform last month.
