Mr. Seidu Agongo, a business man and philanthropist, has built a block of outpatient services (OPD) for the Pediatric Emergency Unit of the Korle-Bu University Hospital in Accra.
Mr. Agongo said that during a site visit, he had been inspired by the facility after witnessing the harsh conditions in which babies and toddlers are cared for in the space of 22 beds existing and often congested.

Mr. Agongo stated that he was at the pediatric emergency unit to comfort one of his employees who had lost a child during delivery in the facility.
He then formally asked for a piece of land to be able to provide an additional space of 30 beds for the children.

Evangeline Narh, from the Matrone, said the new block would complement the current 22-bed block, which is almost always congested, because of the average daily patient population rate of between 30 and 50.
She noted that the usual congestion hinders the delivery of health care. She expressed her deep gratitude to Mr. Agongo for coming to the rescue of the unit with kindness.
The unit, she revealed, is the only health point of reference for emergency cases involving children in the Greater Accra region.
Mr. Agongo ordered that three air conditioners (AC) be attached and canopies lifted off the premises after the matron had called the CAs in the facility and hangars at the facility. Outside the shelter for parents and guardians of patients brought to the unit
Professor Ebenezer Badoe, head of the Children's Health Department in Korle-Bu, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Agongo for his kindness and promised him that the block would be well maintained and used for the benefit of the whole of the country. country.
He lamented the lack of space for staff and patients, as well as the lack of human resources at the emergency unit.
Professor Badoe called for more badistance to institutions and people with sufficient resources to provide resources to the unit.
