A car crashes past the Wetherspoons pub – as it happened

Firefighters saved a man from his car after his vehicle had entered the entrance of a Wetherspoon pub in Dewsbury.

The accident happened at the Time Piece pub in Northgate, Dewsbury, around 9:45 this morning.

Police and firefighters taped the road while emergency crews released the man from his car.

I did not think the driver had been hurt, even though he might be in shock.

A witness stated that he saw the driver parked near the pub before the accident.

She said, "I hope he's fine, he's still in the car.

"He was parked there and I dubbed him and I went up there.

"The next minute, I know, I heard a crash."

Another witness said, "He had to switch to turn around and find himself directly in the Wetherspoon."
