Huang Wensi is one of the small but growing number of female boxers in China, challenging traditional stereotypes that often drive women away from these activities.

"A woman is not limited to being a woman or a mother at home," said Huang, 29, who likes the intensity of the sport.

Born in a small town in south China's Guangdong Province, Huang started boxing in 2002. She joined a provincial team three years later, but retired in 2011 as a result of her work. ;a wound.

She met her husband in 2015 and her son was born a year later.

After a period of severe depression after the birth of his son, Huang was inspired by a grueling training program and by a strong comeback of professional boxing.

In 2018, her efforts were rewarded when she won the gold belt of the Asian Super Flyweight Women's Championship.
