A house at 295 Gooch Street, Thornbury, sold under the hammer.
Young shoppers were drawn to a trendy North Central home designed to attract Thornbury's hipster market.
And Nigel Harry, agent of Jellis Craig Northcote, said the extra character helped create a "Cinderella story" auction.
The three-bedroom house located at 295 Gooch Street is sold $ 85,000 above the reserve for $ 935,000 to a young couple who planned to live there. They beat three other groups who raised their hands to get the keys on 23 offers.

Look closely and you will see a lot of plants.
Auctioneer Nigel Harry said the result was a "Cinderella story".
Mr. Harry stated that the deceased owner, Peter, who had lived there for about 60 years, had always wanted to sell it to a homeowner.
"His last wish was that someone loved him for what he was, a great family home," said Harry.
"He hoped that it would stay and that it would not leave room for development."
There is even a plant hanging from the ceiling of the kitchen.
The three bedroom house was bought by a young couple.
The business couple said he would not demolish the brick house, even though he needed an update.
Peter's closest friends decorated the house before he arrived on the market. One of them owns a neighboring plant business, Troposphere Gardens, and has added a collection of rare and exotic indoor plants to almost every room.
The trendy touch created a "true northern home atmosphere" and allowed young buyers from Collingwood, Fitzroy and Northcote to walk through the door, Harry said.
There is plenty of room to stretch out in the courtyard.
More than 100 groups have inspected the property before it goes under the hammer.
Other features include a mid-century style fireplace and a large backyard.
