Princess Cruises confirmed "a complete search of the vessel was conducted, but the guest was not located".
Complete statement:
"Princess Cruises confirmed that a 22-year-old male guest had been missing from the Golden Princess last night (Monday, January 21). The ship is currently on a 13-night cruise in New Zealand and is scheduled to complete the return trip to Melbourne tomorrow.
Public addresses were announced on board and a complete search of the ship was conducted, but the guest was not located. The Joint Rescue Coordination Center of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (Canberra) has been informed.
Extensive research has been conducted on the entire ship, including all guest cabins and public spaces, and CCTV footage is under review. We are naturally extremely concerned about the well-being of our customers. "
