A family tracking app has leaked real-time location data for weeks

Although the data is secure for the moment, the incident illustrates the problem of tracking applications as a whole: it's hard to verify that developers are securing your location information at every step. If they do not do it and there is a breach, it could lead to very real threats that could include physical danger.
