After extending his contract until 2021 at Camp Nou, Suarez rejoined his compatriot, Unai Emery, north of London, with the Gunners having an option to buy.

And Suarez revealed that he had always been a staunch supporter of the Gunners, a club that he believes has the same football philosophy as himself.

He said: "Nobody knows about me that when I was little, I watched the Premier League on television.

"When I was small, Arsenal was the team that inspired me, I looked at Bergkamp and Henry, they were legends.

"My philosophy of football? Have fun, have fun and win.

"I am a midfielder and the last ball is my best quality. The person I watch most in the world of football is Andres Iniesta.

"He has always been my idol since I was young."

The 25-year-old also sent an emotional message to his Barcelona teammates after completing his move.

He said: "You are a group of extraordinary people! Thank you for everything, see you soon. Good luck and Força Barça.

Pep Guardiola had just left Blaugrana before Suarez left City to join Barcelona at 19.

And after stays with Sevilla and Villarreal, Barcelona bought the player in 2016, but after failing to gain playing time under Ernesto Valverde, he decided to take up a new challenge in North London.
