A father about to be hit by a random attack finds out that he has a tumor the size of a golf ball on his brain.

A young and healthy man was told that he had a tumor the size of a golf ball in the brain just days after learning that he was going to become Father.

The cancer was diagnosed in Joel North, 31, after an uncontrollable and random seizure that lasted five minutes while he was at work on March 11th.

Mr. North, from Lismore, in northeastern New South Wales, was rushed to hospital with his girlfriend Anita Jordan by his side.

The couple, who had no idea of ​​the cause of the terrible crisis, waited patiently for the results of several MRI exams.

The doctors told Mr. North that he had a tumor stuck in the right parietal area of ​​his brain – an "eloquent" area that involves planning, controlling, and performing voluntary movements.

He needs a radical surgery to remove the tumor and it is only then that he will know what degree of cancer he has.

Mr. North and his girlfriend set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for life-changing surgery.

The surgery will pay them $ 130,000 because they do not have private health insurance.

"Joel's best chance of survival is based on this major operation," reads the GoFundMe page.

He then explains how Mr. North, who has lived a healthy life all his life, now needs 24-hour care, because another crisis could occur at any time.

"This uncertainty adds to the urgency of the surgery because the tumors can go from benign to aggressive and the crisis tells us it's time to act now," they said.

In order to put more pressure on the couple, Anita learned that she was pregnant a few days before the seizure and urged the public to help her so that Mr. North could meet his first baby, Poppy, planned for October.

The couple had been trying to have a baby for over a year after their first tragic mistake.

The couple has already met a neurosurgeon, Charlie Teo from Sydney, who is ready to operate but gives him a one in five chance of receiving the latest side effects.

"The main risks are motor skills on Joel's left side, which could lead to paralysis and wheelchair use," said the fundraising page.

Mr. North is also at risk of dying during the proceedings.

The GoFundMe page has since raised more than $ 98,000 on its target of $ 100,000 Sunday night.

Despite the colossal funds collected so far, the couple is always aware that the operation is only the visible part of the iceberg.
