A fire destroyed the pavilion of the health center of the Church of Yendi of Christ occupied by Bernard Ndeogo, a doctor from the center of the municipality of Yendi, in the northern region.
The four-bedroom bungalow with a hall, kitchen, bathrooms and store was destroyed at 3:30 a.m. on Friday, while the doctor was at the health center treating patients.
According to some people at the health center, the fire started with smoke and flames coming from the roof of the facility.
They said they sounded the alarm and people rushed to put out the fire, but could not do so, forcing them to call the Ghana National Fire Service which arrived as the fire destroyed all of the doctor’s property.
The doctor said he lost GHS 11,000.00 in the destruction, his wife’s education certificates, his children and his own certificates, furniture, refrigerators and food.
He said he was preparing for his wife to pass out as a seamstress on Saturday February 6, 2021, unfortunately everything that was purchased for the occasion was destroyed by the fire, his family members have been moved.
Ghana National Fire Service staff say the blaze may have been caused by power fluctuations in Yendi Municipality. Power fluctuation has become a problem in the municipality.
In December of last year, a Yendi Ghana Water Company Limited pumping panel burned down due to power fluctuations in the area.
The people therefore called on the authorities of the Volta River Authority (VRA) to find solutions to avoid further destruction.
