An Air NZ plane had to return to Auckland after being struck by lightning as it headed for Tahiti.
Pbadengers aboard flight NZ42 reported seeing a flash of light, followed by a "huge and powerful bang" about ten minutes after the start of the trip.

Vance said the pbadengers were booked on a Saturday night flight, meaning pbadengers would be stranded for 24 hours.
"We are set to leave tomorrow at 7 pm, so let's hope we can do it this time," Carstens said.
