Some residents at the crime scene
An alleged thief, who was part of a gang that stole goats in Tenguanya, near Klo Agogo, an agricultural community in the east, was burned alive in a car trunk by an angry mob .
After the operation, the thieves were spotted by young men who chased them on a motorcycle.
However, the robbers controlled the men and shot dead two of the youths who were pursuing them.
Community members alerted residents of a nearby town who blocked the main road and approached the thieves in Huhunya.
Two of the thieves managed to escape during the ensuing fight, but one of them was trapped, locked in the trunk of the car used for theft and burned lively with the stolen goat.
The remains of the two deceased residents – Jerry Tettehfio and Aaron Padi Attarmah – were transported to the morgue of the East Regional Hospital in Koforidua.
When contacted, Nkurakan Police Command staff, who caused the fall of Huhunya, confirmed the incident and reported that investigations were under way.
East Region Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, while confirming the incident, revealed that one of the two thieves, who had fled, was arrested. He was apprehended by locals and, without timely police intervention, would also have been killed.
