Two men were hailed as heroes after being attacked by an alleged arsonist who appeared to have set fire to cars in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The video posted on Reddit by the user spincrisis shows a man dressed in a black hooded jacket holding a gas can that he pours on the hood of a car that pbades. and set it on fire.
According to CTV News, the alleged arsonist allegedly set 13 cars on fire, most of them parked but some occupied by drivers.
The man is then shown throwing the gasoline can in the air and gesturing to the pedestrians before running away. Two men, one wearing a Hawaiian shirt and the other holding a wooden board, pursued him in a Starbucks and pinned him to the ground during an arrest by a citizen. They then became known as "Hawaiian shirt type" and "2×4 type".
"2×4 guy" was identified as Jeff Halaby. He told the Edmonton Sun that "the Hawaiian guy in shirt" was controlling the situation. "The guy at the Hawaiian shirt" has not been publicly identified.
"The Hawaiian guy did not need my help," he said. "Once the man in the Hawaiian shirt had it on the floor, he was going nowhere."
People on Twitter celebrated the heroic efforts of both men.
