Kumasi Kidnappers Canada Suspects escorted by the police

Prosecutors said national investigative bodies had found crucial evidence in the trial of eight (8) people arrested and brought to justice for the abduction of two Canadian women in Kumasi.

Hilda Craig, a senior prosecutor, who revealed this yesterday in court, said that "new and serious evidence is being collected" in the case that drew attention to the both at national and international levels.

She added that the prosecution wished to conduct thorough investigations into the matter, given the diverging interests in this case.

Andrew Vortia, a lawyer for Seidu Abubakari, aka Mba, did not understand. He was convinced that the prosecution was using the "new evidence" to keep them in detention.

During the proceedings, the kidnapping gang's brain, Sampson Aghalor, a Nigerian, alleged that he was treated in a biased manner by Bureau officials or National Investigations (BNI) officials.

According to him, unlike his Ghanaian counterparts to whom their relatives had allowed access and visits, he and the other Nigerian had been denied the same opportunity to talk to their families.

He mentioned Seidu Abubakari and Yusif Yakubu as being those who had the privilege of talking to their parent when the judge who visited them asked them.

Aghalor was the same person who had testified in court that he was expressing remorse for organizing the kidnapping of Canadians and asking for forgiveness.

The prosecution, headed by Hilda Craig, Senior Attorney General, was surprised by the suspect's allegation that none of the suspects would be denied visits by his family.

However, she badured the court to look into the matter and have her supervisors contact BNI for immediate action.

Meanwhile, the court, chaired by Judge George Buadi, remanded the case to July 29 to consider a bail application for some of the defendants.

This follows the inability of the lawyers to serve the Attorney General (A-G) with these requests.

Mr. Vortia, who represents Seidu Abubakari, wanted to move the bail application when the court's attention was drawn to the fact that the NCO was not on duty.

Stop

On June 12, a Ghanaian security operation led by National Security rescued the two Canadian women abducted from their homes in the suburbs of Kumasi last month.

They reportedly abducted their victims and placed them in an unfinished building on the outskirts of the city, demanding a ransom of $ 800,000.

The two ladies had climbed into an Uber hotel in Nhyiaeso, behind the Vienna hotel, but they had been approached by the defendants upon their arrival at destination and had got off the car.

These are Sampson Aghalor, aka Romeo; Elvis Ojiyorwe; Jeff Omarsar; Yusif Yakubu; Abdul Nasir; Seidu Abubakar; Safianu Abubakari and Abdul Rahman Suleman, aka Wofa.
