The baby spent four days in the hospital to receive emergency treatment, including two sets of antibiotics and several topical creams to soothe his inflamed skin.

The doctors told Kaylah's parents that she could have died without medical care and that they now want to get the message out to other people.

"When the doctors told me how dangerous it was, I cried and cried thinking that I could have lost her because of a silly kiss," Ms. Thomas told Yahoo7 News.

"If we had not gone to the hospital quickly … we could have lost it."
