Traders in the Takoradi Central Market, better known as the "Market Circle", are still struggling to understand the reality after a woman, who is reportedly 40 years old, has locked herself up with an elderly boy. 39, one year, last Friday.

The suspect, wearing a long robe covered with a veil covering his face, allegedly pretended to shop on the market and would have hired the mother of the victim, Nana Akosua, in a warm conversation to the point that the two men started to speak the local Ewe dialect.

The unidentified suspect asked Nana Akosua to give her baby relief to better serve her clients.

The suspect then took the one-year-old boy and his siblings to a nearby bake shop and bought a few. He then fired the brothers and sisters, leaving the one year old boy to the bake vendor.

The suspect then promised to bring back the boy, but then left the boy without the mother's noticing.

Later, the victim's mother, realizing her absence at the baker's, sounded the alarm, but it was too late to locate her baby.

The frustrated mother started looking for her baby but could only get pictures of her missing baby and the suspect from some of the banks whose video surveillance had captured them.

The Takoradi police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect and the baby.
