The people of Monkey Hill in Sekondi-Takoradi, the capital of the western region, are caught in fear following the mysterious death of a 16-year-old boy in the area.

The lifeless body of Kweku Gyamerah, a last-year student at Bishop Essuah Junior High School in Takoradi, was found yesterday in a forest reserve at Monkey Hill near Paa Grant roundabout in Takoradi.

According to some residents, the body bore marks suggesting that its blood could have been drained for ritual purposes.

"We also saw maggots in his nose and mouth. In addition, he had bruises all over his body and parts of his body seemed mutilated, "said a resident.

According to Fredrick Gyamerah, the father of the deceased, her son lived with his aunt at the New Site M35, near Takoradi, but was reported missing on Monday, January 21, 2019 around 8 pm.

Distress calls were sent to some Takoradi radio stations about a rotting body in the forest reserve. The police were informed later.

The police then went to the scene and transferred the decomposed body to the Effia-Nkwanta hospital morgue in Sekondi.

Meanwhile, the police opened an investigation into the case.
