According to a team of Israeli scientists, they are likely to develop a cure for cancer over the next year, the Jerusalem Post reported at night.
The new treatment is being developed by Accelerated Evolution Biotechnologies under the direction of Dr. Ilan Morad, CEO, according to the report.
"We believe that we will propose in a year a comprehensive treatment for cancer," said Dan Aridor, chairman of the board of directors of the company.
"Our cancer treatment will be effective from the first day, last a few weeks and will have no side effects or minimal side effects at a cost well below most other treatments on the market."
The treatment, called MuTaTo, will use a combination of cancer targeting peptides and a toxin that will specifically kill cancer cells.
The treatment will eventually be personalized and a specific badtail of drugs will be given to patients based on their type of cancer, Dr. Morad told the newspaper.
That sounds too good to be true, especially since 18.1 million new cases of cancer are diagnosed each year worldwide, according to reports from the International Agency for Research on Cancer, of which one in six deaths is due to cancer.
Dr. Morad told theTo post The company had completed its first exploratory experiment on mice, which inhibited the growth of cancer cells in humans and had no effect on healthy mouse cells, in addition to several in vitro badays. He was now about to begin a series of clinical trials that could be completed in a few years and would then make the treatment available in specific cases.
