A former conservative member of the Scottish parliament living in France will become one of the first deputies of the Brexit party after a strong representation in the north-east of England. After his victory, Brian Monteith said the victory was "emphatic" and dismissed critics saying that he was a hypocrite because he lived in the south of France.
