Some players chasing the sheep's head
A sheep's head momentarily interrupted the match of the special bowl of the standardization committee between Liberty Professionals and the Ebusua dwarves at Dansoman Park Carl Reindorf on Wednesday.
Their presence on the ground prompted referee Solomon Modey to suspend the game for about five minutes to allow the ewe to be taken off the court.
Although in Ghana it is not uncommon to see stray animals everywhere, it is considered strange that such animals have found their way to the stadium.
The situation has drawn feelings missed among the spectators. While some laughed at it, it was also a scene to be attributed to superstition.
However, the circumstances in which the three heads invaded the ground for food while the game was going on still remain strange to most fans who wonder how they were able to thwart the security at the front door to enter the Park.
Even more strange was the way the sheep managed to reach the ground that has a perimeter fence wall and a security door.
A park steward was seen in a comical chase of sheep running in circles with the steward before finally getting out of the field.
That happened after the 78th minute, when the Dansoman-based team scored four goals and the three sheep suddenly started feeding on the pitch.
After some players helped a steward kick the ball off the pitch, supporters began to read superstition throughout the scenario.
Some fans have heard that the three sheep represented three goals that Liberty Professionals were supposed to score, but they finally scored four goals and wondered where the last goal came from.
Liberty Professionals beat the Cape Coast-based club 4-0 with a goal against Kwadwo Addai, a duet by Emmanuel Addo and Benjamin Eshun's goal, guaranteeing maximum points for the Dansoman-based club.
