(WIBW / CNN VAN) – This is bad news for all bacon lovers. A new study says eating a slice of bacon a day could increase your risk of cancer.
Researchers followed nearly half a million adults in the UK for five years and found that for 25 grams of processed meats, such as bacon, consumed each day, the risk of colorectal cancer increased 20%, according to CNN.
Twenty-five grams are about 0.8 ounces and roughly equal to the amount of a thin slice of bacon. Red meat was also linked to an increased risk, but according to the study, it required a greater amount of red meat to achieve the same effect.
