The Chinese manufacturer Huawei has been at the center of media interest in recent months. It was mainly about the question of a possible close relationship with the Chinese government. And on potential security issues when Huawei is participating in the expansion of 5G in Western countries. Huawei did not want to talk about it during the presentation of the new supermodel in Paris. Before the interviews, journalists were instructed to omit only these topics. The P30 should understand in the foreground.
The strategy is clear: to convince the market of the reliability and reliability of the business with attractive features. In doing so, Huawei must not only compete, but surpbad itself. With the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro, the manufacturer has even set new standards in camera quality.
A camera with smartphone. The model tested by "Press am Sonntag" is a P30 Pro supplied by Huawei. The device offers all that technology desires to the heart. A very good processor of its own development (HiSilicon Kirin 980) and eight gigabytes of RAM. That's more than some laptops have to offer. It is no longer the question of whether the smartphone is fast, but how fast. In benchmarks, the P30 Pro depends on almost all the competition. A result that is also reflected in perception in the test. There is nothing wrong with that.
The treatment is as usual of high quality and leaves nothing to be desired. It's a smartphone that has more than deserved the top model epithet. Huawei also seems to be aware of it. The show was entirely devoted to the camera and its exceptional qualities. With this promise, we tested the device rather in the appearance of a camera.
We found that only the Huawei P30 Pro figured in the DxOMark camera test. It works very well, as expected. The cheapest P30 can not be found. Huawei, the boss of the mobile branch, recently explained this by saying that it would prove the opposite in all the best places and we would like to avoid a monopoly. On the contrary, it is likely that Huawei wants to increase sales of the P30 Pro.
Further than the eye can see. With three different focal lengths, including a hybrid zoom and 50x digital magnification, the P30 Pro's camera is incredibly versatile. In the standard settings, the camera takes the lead and produces great pictures. The all inclusive package also includes low light and, again, Huawei shines. The night mode of Google is already impressive, but Huawei is back on the P30 Pro, without custom mode. The 50x zoom does not provide extremely sharp images, but it's scary to see how far you can get details.
With a little less than 1000 euros (256 GB), the smartphone is not a good deal, but cheaper than Apple or Samsung. Huawei still has room for the video function. Otherwise, there is not much to moan about the device. The battery lasts up to three days on average. The mission to convince the world of Huawei's flawless work with the P30 could be realized.
