A member of the Manchester United back room was taken to the hospital after an alleged overdose at the club hotel in Perth.
The man, in his fifties, is undergoing medical treatment in Australia, where the team is on a pre-season tour.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team arrived in Perth on Monday and held an open training session at WACA on Thursday night.
It is believed that the unidentified staff member became ill overnight at the Crown Towers hotel.
Local media in Australia said that the man was being treated for an alleged overdose.
It was not known if this resulted from a medical prescription, another substance or a health problem.
Manchester United did not comment on reports of an overdose, but confirmed that a member of his staff had been taken to the hospital.
A spokesman for the club said: "A member of our staff in the back shop was sick all night and was sent to the hospital by our club doctor for further treatment.
"We ask that medical confidentiality be respected."
In Australia, the 9 news channel said that the man had been seen arriving at the hospital under high security around 3 pm local time.
He was brought with his face hidden behind a sheet.
Other Australian reports indicate that his condition is stable, although nothing is officially confirmed by the hospital.
United participates in a four-day, 18-day preparatory tour of Australia, Singapore and China.
They will face Perth Glory on Saturday and Leeds United on July 17th, before flying to Singapore for a match against Inter Milan on July 20th.
The trip ends with a match against Premier League rival Tottenham in Shanghai on July 25.
Royal Perth Hospital declined to comment.
