The windows of his taxi were broken

A minicab driver suffered an alleged heart attack a few moments after the windows of his car were broken by armed men.

The taxi, which was carrying three pbadengers, was cashed by another car in Amhurst Park, Stamford Hill, north of London on Saturday night.

Four or five men came out of the other car and attacked the taxi.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was found slumped in the driver's seat by the police. He was taken to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Police believe that the victim's car, a Toyota Prius, was followed by a white Ford Focus before the attack, around 23:30 GMT.

The Ford boxed in the minicab near the junction with Rav Pinter Close where the attack, which detectives think it was planned, took place.

Detective Constable James Readman said, "Although the suspect did not directly injure the driver, it is believed that he was caught shortly after the attack.

"He is currently hospitalized in a situation where his life is in danger and my officers are using to identify the group of men responsible."
