She gave birth to her son, Kyden, by caesarean section after 26 weeks. He died 12 days later after contracting an infection in the stomach.
While the mother and her partner were devastated, Rawling's sister, Kourt, told the Australian Yahoo 7 last year that her brother had made "the promise" to continue fighting her cancer .
However, his condition has only worsened and a possible bone marrow transplant from his brother has been ruled out by the doctors.

In November, he was given a glimmer of hope with the introduction of a trial drug to help save his life. The expensive treatment prompted his family to create a GoFundMe page, raising enough funds to allow Rawlings to begin treatment.
But after two injections, she succumbed to the disease and died just days after her 19th birthday.
Tributes pour in for an "inspiring" woman
Rawlings' family was shocked by the devastating news. His sister said that his death was difficult to treat.
"I'm so lost in words … I can not think without crying," she told Yahoo.

Friends and family members visited social media to pay tribute to the young woman and her resilience to leukemia.

In a celebration of her life, the family organized an intimate service for Rawlings on January 4, where participants wore bright colors after the teenager had asked anyone not to wear black.
