The man who was shot by badailants at the Ashanti regional headquarters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), was buried in a context of heightened security.

A team composed of armed military and police officers thwarted an attempt by some Abdul Wasiu Idrissu sympathizers to cause trouble in Tafo after a solemn Islamic ritual for the deceased.

According to Erastus Asare Donkor, of Luv News, hundreds of young people had wanted to visit the Tafo area after the burial, but security agencies blocked the road.

Police sources said they had information that they wanted to revive an old conflict.

The Ashanti Regional Police is looking for four people who allegedly shot two people and killed one of them at the NDC office in Kumasi.

In a press release, police said the four suspects suspected of belonging to an NDC self-defense group, Hawks, were behind the attack.

The suspects are Husein Barnabas, also known as Warrior, Mijima, Damos and Abu Taliban.

This raid comes after the attack of some members of the executive and NDC members at the Kumasi regional office on February 18.

According to one eyewitness, the badailant, badociated with a NDC militia, the Hawks, allegedly shot another NDC man three times; first in the leg while running and twice in the chest at close range, as he was vulnerable.

Zainab Suleman, the mother of the deceased, told Joy News that she admired the strength of Allah, thanking the entire country for its support.

"I pray that Allah will strengthen, bless and protect the youth of this country against such attacks …", she said.

Mohammed Iddrissu, the brother of the deceased, wants government and security agents to get justice for Abdul Wasiu Iddrissu.

"People should not be allowed to hide behind a party to do the wrong thing. A crime is a crime and people in positions of authority must ensure that justice is done, "he said.

At the same time, Interior Minister Ambrose Derry badured that the police would promptly investigate the murder.

He added that the case would be treated as a criminal case and that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. He warns against retaliation.

According to him, the incident offers all political parties the opportunity to work together to put an end to their vigilance.
