Juventus has announced the signing of Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey for a four-year lucrative contract starting July 1st.
The Welsh international has entered into a pre-contract agreement with the champions of Italy and will join a free transfer when its arsenal will expire at the end of the season.
Ramsey was in talks with Arsenal about new conditions until the club withdrew his offer in October, leaving him free to end his 11 years at the club where he played 259 times and scored 61 goals.
A club statement said: "The Juventus football club has announced that a contract of employment with player Aaron James Ramsey, effective July 1, 2019 and expiring June 30, 2023, has been signed. Following the player's registration, Juventus will incur additional costs of € 3.7m (£ 3.24m), to be paid before July 10, 2019. "
Ramsey, who joined Arsenal from Cardiff City in 2008, had talks with Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain, but it became clear that Turin would be his destination with terms of about £ 300,000 a week. This figure will make Ramsey the best-paid British footballer.
The 28-year-old posted his own statement via Instagram. He wrote, "I wanted to make a personal statement for all Arsenal fans who have been extremely loyal and supportive. You've welcomed me as a teenager and have been there for me through all the ups and downs I've encountered during my time at the club. It's with heavy heart that I'm leaving after 11 incredible years in North London. Thank you.
"I will continue to give 100% to the team and I hope to finish the season in force before moving on to my next chapter in Turin."
The contract for Ramsey in the Emirates will expire on June 30 and Arsenal will not charge a fee upon departure.
A statement from Arsenal said: "Everyone at Arsenal Football Club wishes Aaron Ramsey a happy and successful future. Aaron's has made a fantastic contribution to our club since arriving in Cardiff City in 2008. He has always been an accomplished professional and will always have a special place in the hearts and memories of Arsenal fans around the world. "
