Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey will join Juventus at the end of the season after signing a £ 400,000 weekly contract with the Serie A giants.
The Welsh international is set to become the highest paid British player in history when he leaves the Gunners at the end of the season.
Standard Sport football correspondent James Olley understands that Manchester United and Liverpool are part of a group of clubs interested in signing the 28-year-old midfielder.
But the Welsh's huge salary at Juventus partly explains why Liverpool and United refused to follow the long-standing interest of the midfielder last month.
Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of Ramsey's energies and penetration from the midfield. But with Liverpool, who wanted to fight for the Premier League title, he decided not to add another option to a sector of the team in which he is well supplied.
United has been briefed on Ramsey last summer but has since dismissed Jose Mourinho and was reluctant to commit significant sums until a permanent successor is found.
The confirmation of Ramsey's exit is expected in the next 24 hours and he will leave this summer, ending 11 years of stay after signing a £ 5 million contract with Cardiff in 2008.
