The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has said Deputy Police Commissioner (DCP) Abba Kyari, charged with aiding and abetting a fraud investigation, should be turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The group’s spokesman, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, was recently caught in the act of leaking tapes calling for the extradition of the suspended DCP.
Recall that CNG and other northern groups in defense of Abba Kyari, had previously called for support for the police chief in difficulty.
In response, a group of about 31 lawyers from northern Nigeria volunteered to render legal services to the ailing DCP.
Abba Kyari has been suspended in connection with a $ 1.1 million scam involving avowed fraudster Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi.
The CNG had, during a roundtable in Kaduna, underlined several procedural shortcomings close to violations of international protocol in the alleged FBI attempt to envelop Kyari in the Hushpuppi case as well as the obvious haste of the Nigerian police authorities to strip him of his post. with immediate substantial replacement.
She therefore called on lawyers in northern Nigeria to mobilize and deploy legal resources to ensure that Mr. Kyari’s rights are not violated by a foreign power or abuse of local administrative procedures.
During a meeting in Kaduna, northern groups demanded a review of Kyari’s suspension and the immediate transfer of his case to the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA).
However, Suleiman on a recent tape leak extracted by Vanguard, said Abba Kyari must prove his innocence, adding that all the rumors from some neighborhoods would not stop the United States from trying the troubled police chief.
