The country's largest television networks – ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX – are suing Locast, a streaming service that broadcasts their programs for free.
The companies say that Locast violates their copyright. Locast argued that "under the law, it is permissible to broadcast the networks without paying them because it is a non-profit organization.
The lawsuit comes after Locast, last month, received a $ 500,000 donation from AT & T.
AT & T has integrated Locast into its DirecTV and U-verse cable services, just like Dish. This could help TV providers in their conflicts with networks for funds that sometimes lead to hidden channels. AT & T is also in payment dispute with CBS, which removed CBS from its platforms.
Locast did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
