The suspect, Sammy, speaks with a Nigerian accent and has been declared "dangerous" by the police.
The West Regional Police Command says its investigations show that the three girls who were kidnapped in Sekondi-Takoradi were lured by their kidnapper with a ploy to get a job.
DCOP Police Commander, Vincent Redeemer Dedjoe, explained that a call history between abductor Samuel Wills and the victims showed constant communication, apparently about a promise of employment.
The accused previously mentioned four people who would be involved in the kidnapping. The police have made considerable efforts to arrest these suspects out of hiding, but to no avail. "
DCOP Vincent Redeemer Dedjoe also said the police were collaborating with Interpol to confirm their information that Mr. Wills had a criminal history of kidnapping in Nigeria.
After his arrest, Mr. Wills escaped from the police cells but was taken back and brought to court under the charge of evading a legal custody.
The judgment will be pronounced on Monday, January 28th.
"Criminal investigations are a gradual process and if you do not deal with them, you will avoid a lot of things. The case we are dealing with does not look like a missing child case. It is a well thought out act, so we must act tactfully.
"We do not treat it with children's gloves," said Dedjoe, DCOP's Redeemer.
He rejected reports that the abductions led to a state of insecurity in Sekondi-Takoradi, claiming that the victims "did not go to the market or to the church and were arrested but had established a relationship with the main suspect before he can kidnap them. "
