The suspect, Sammy, was caught after escaping from police custody.
The command of the West Ghana Regional Police said that he would not use torture to extract information from Samuel Udoetuk-Wills, the Nigerian suspect in custody in Takoradi for supposedly kidnapped three girls in this oil-rich city.
The girls have been missing since last August.
This is Priscilla Blessing Bentum, age 21, last seen on August 17, 2018; Ruth Love Quayson, age 18, last seen on December 4, 2018; and Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie, age 18, last seen on December 21, 2018.
The suspect, who had previously escaped from police custody, was recaptured while he was sleeping in an abandoned building a few weeks ago.
According to the police, the suspect refused to talk about the whereabouts of the girls.
This has provoked the indignation of some Ghanaians who plead for him to be tortured for what he is talking about.
The Public Relations Officer of the Western Region Police Command, DSP Olivia Adiku, said Wednesday at Ekosii Sen's political talk show on Asempa FM, Wednesday: January 23, 2019: "When we look around the world, no one is torturing the suspects. We are not supposed to torture him. We must respect his human rights.
