Founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan said recent events in his party will likely affect their chances of winning the next election if they are not resolved amicably.

He was discussing the resignation of the MP for North Tongu from the Parliamentary Appointments Committee in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show “Ghana Montie”.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced on Wednesday March 31, 2021 his resignation from the parliamentary appointments committee.

He said in his resignation that the decision was made “after days of careful consideration. He added that “I would like to say that the reasons for this difficult decision are both personal and principled.”

But Yaw Boateng Gyan considers Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s resignation to be “unfortunate” – adding that his expertise is much needed within the committee.

The former national organizer of the NDC, however, lamented Mr. Ablakwa’s reckless decision to resign from the committee without any consultation with the party leadership.

“It should have been discussed within the party. There are elders in the party and he [Ablakwa] should have consulted some of us for advice, ”he said.

Adding that “what he did was disrespectful. They belong to a party and have to take these issues to the party leadership to resolve this issue. “
