Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ade Coker said there was a lot of speculation about what led to the North Tongu MP’s resignation from the parliamentary appointments committee.

This is because Mr Alabkwa did not give the reasons for his resignation, he said.

To this end, Mr. Ade Coker said it was necessary to know Mr. Ablakwa’s line of voting when he was on the committee when selecting the ministerial candidates for President Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Ablakwa resigned from the commission on Wednesday March 31.

He said in a letter to President Alban Kingsford Bagbin that the decision was made “after days of careful consideration and thoughtful thinking”.

“I want to say that the reasons for this difficult decision are both personal and principled.”

Speaking on key points on TV3 on Saturday April 3, Mr. Ade Coker told host Abena Tabi that “In the future, your parliamentary vote record may be withdrawn. If you go to the United States, there is no such thing as consensus.

“We will have to find out during the verification process what its [Ablakwa’s] the voting line was. This will determine and help us to pass judgment on what he says about principles.

“If you had consistently voted against the nominees, that sounds good, so you can say there is no point in being on the committee for me.

“I want to know how the poll went. if the voting model went in such a way that you lost, then you are forced to accept the results of what took place, but here we are, they only come to tell us that it is a consensus.

He added: “The resignation leaves room for speculation, it leaves room for many rumors against the NDC.”
