Members of the Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly Assembly on Wednesday called on President Akufo-Addo to reappoint Ms. Mariama Karley Amui, current Municipal Director General (MCE), to continue her “good work.”
They said that the success of each Assembly depended on the wise leadership of the Chief Executive, whom Amui had “proven beyond a reasonable doubt” that the President of the Republic had made the right choice in appointing her MCE.
The call was made at the last General Assembly of the Assembly of the year to review activities for 2020 and put in place new strategies for a successful 2021.
Members of the Assembly of Laterbiokorshie, Abossey Okai, Mataheko, Sukura, Gbotsui, Nmenmette and Manbrook were present at the meeting; and four government appointees.
Mr. Yakubu Abane Asoke, President and Assembly Member of Nmenmette described MCE as a “unifier, peacemaker and good listener”.
“I have worked with many MCEs but this woman is different in that even though the Municipal Assembly is less than two years old, she has experienced growth in many areas. She is the mother of all… During the period of confinement, she led the Assembly to come to the aid of many and made sure that they all survived the period of hardship, ”he said.
Mr Asoke said he had given directions for the motion to be forwarded to the chief of staff and forwarded to the president’s office so that he does not overlook the MCE, adding: ‘We call for that if someone else we are taken away from our MCE, we will vote against this new person.
Laterbiokorshie Assembly member Muntari Wahab said the municipality has benefited from several development projects such as schools, hospitals, sports facilities and roads initiated by MCE.
“MCE is someone who believes in development, as such, if given another chance to pursue their vision, the Assembly would become one of the best in Greater Accra,” he added.
Mrs. Dora Osei Boateng, member of the Mataheko Assembly, also described the MCE as “sociable”.
She said that thanks to MCE’s efforts, work had started in her constituency for the construction of drainage systems – a problem they faced for many years.
MCE thanked President Akufo-Addo for the confidence placed in him and congratulated him on his re-election as President for another term.
She also thanked Assembly members for their support during the period and said the COVID-19 pandemic was affecting some Assembly activities and making income generation difficult, but hoped 2021 would be a better one. year to achieve all set goals.
At the meeting, the Assembly adopted the Model Urban Passenger Transport Services Regulation 2017 to regulate urban passenger transport in the Assembly.
Looking at the way forward for 2021, the Assembly planned to channel its common fund towards the construction of a municipal court, a clinic in Abossey Okai, repairing faulty street lights, renovating three basic schools and building a complex. libraries and information and communication technologies (ICT). Center.
The Assembly would also use its internally generated funds to provide sheds for traders in the onion market and undertake a community self-help project, which would provide additional financial support to projects initiated by community leaders.
