The appearance of the rapper was uncertain, his flight was delayed by two hours Friday.
However, he arrived in time to perform after being escorted by the police to Glasgow Green.
He posted a video on his Instagram account where he said that his vehicle was escorted to the festival site by police motorcycles.
Arriving on stage about 15 minutes later than planned to close the first day of the festival, he told fans: "We are going to live a legendary evening.
"I never want to forget that.
"It's the first time I'm leading a festival in Scotland, so I want to make it unforgettable."
Opening with Know Me From, he played the new single Crown and also covered Someone You Love by Lewis Capaldi, who is scheduled to appear at the festival on Sunday.
Lauren Spiteri, the niece of Texas star Sharleen Spiteri, made headlines Friday night at the women's night.
She said, "I'm just excited to be a part of it, I think it's really good that the TRNSMT celebrate women in music that make me forget and do it alone and I'm very proud of the stage with these extraordinary women. "
On Saturday, Catfish and the Bottlemen will be featured on the main stage, while Richard Ashcroft, Sigrid and Sundara Karma will also be featured.
George Ezra will make the first Sunday to close the festival.
Snow Patrol and Jess Glynne were part of the initial training but were replaced by Scottish artists Lewis Capaldi and Emeli Sande after being removed a few weeks before the festival.
The weather should be generally mild over the weekend with some possible thunderstorms on Saturday and a sunny day on Sunday.
Festival-goers would be better off taking sunscreen as temperatures could reach 21 ° C on Saturday and 23 ° C on Sunday, forecasters say.
The crowd warmed in the sun on Friday with temperatures in excess of 20 ° C (68 ° F), and the organizers urged those present to use sunscreen and stay hydrated.
According to the organizers, at 5:30 pm, about 130 people had visited the medical staff there for minor ailments, many of them sun-related.
At that time, eight people had been arrested for minor offenses.
