According to a study from the University of Oxford, training parents to be more stringent could reverse the obesity epidemic in children

Kim Roberts, executive director of the Health Exercise Nutrition program for the Really Young program in Leeds, explained how parents are encouraged to be "responsible" for their families. She said, "We want parents to be able to respect boundaries, so that they can say" no "to harbad the power around snacks."

Leeds has been compared to 15 other cities in England – none has recorded such a turnaround.

"This kind of reduction is unprecedented," said Roberts.

So far, 6,000 Leeds families have attended clbades and 625 children are "saved" each year from obesity.

Research has shown that if the rate of obesity continues to increase, 128,000 British adults would die each year by 2030. If this increase were halted, early deaths would be reduced to about 118,000 each year.
