Antonio Rudiger called on Chelsea fans to be patient with Gonzalo Higuain, who failed to make an immediate impact on his debut.
The loan signing by Juventus was of little use as a single scorer against Sheffield Wednesday night and had to fall several times in depth to get a touch of the ball.
Wednesday night in Bournemouth, he will be badociated with Eden Hazard for the first time, after the Belgian was put to rest for the match against the FA Cup, and Rudiger expects that the talisman of Chelsea has an impact huge on the stalls of Higuain.
He said, "Anyone who understands football and knows Eden, you can benefit by playing with him.
"He [playing without Hazard] is the same as Barcelona plays without [Lionel] Messi. For us, it is the danger. He can still make the difference, as he showed against Tottenham last week.
"We must be patient with Higuain. He is new. Everything is new. But it will be important for us and it will show its strength.
"First of all, if you see his record, you know he's a scorer. He will do the same thing here. I am confident for him. "
Despite Rudiger's call for patience, coach Maurizio Sarri admitted that Higuain needed to learn Chelsea's style of play as well as English play as quickly as possible.
After taking on Bournemouth and Huddersfield on Saturday, Chelsea have a series of decisive games against Manchester City (Premier League and Carabao Cup Cup final), Manchester United (FA Cup), Malmö (Europa League) and Tottenham (Premier League) the space of 17 days.
For Chelsea to be unscathed, Higuain, 31, will surely have to be at his best.
Sarri said, "It's not easy [for him] adapt. At the end of Sunday's game, Higuain said, "It's so aggressive."
"He has the good experience. This is a great player, so he has to run, adapt in a few matches.
"But he has to do everything in less than a month, otherwise it's [too] late."
After losing 2-0 in the Premier League at Arsenal, Chelsea resumed their season by booking a place for the Carabao Cup final and reaching the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Rudiger, however, admits that Chelsea must advance in the top rankings from Wednesday night in Bournemouth.
He said: "We can be satisfied with the last two games. [in the cups]. But we must find more consistency and return to the form we showed during the first months of the season.
"We have to show the right state of mind every game, not just in big games.
