Even though Snapchat's user base continues to shrink, it is still cited among teens as their favorite platform, according to a new survey by Gen Zers.

Of the 8,000 adolescents surveyed by investment firm Piper Jaffray, 41% identified Snapchat as their preferred social platform.

But Snapchat's advance as a favorite social platform is down 5% from Piper Jaffray's previous survey in the fall of 2018. Even though Snapchat remains the favorite 1, more teenagers respondents use Instagram (84%) more regularly than Snapchat 81%).

Instagram is only a few percentage points behind Snapchat as the teenagers' favorite social platform, and Snapchat's advance continues to shrink at every six-month survey of Piper Jaffray.

Instagram's growth in teens reflects Instagram's dominance of Snapchat as a whole. While the number of daily active users of Snapchat has been reduced to 186 million, the Instagram user base continues to grow and has exceeded 500 million.

Instagram has also become the place where teenagers prefer to engage with brands. Instagram has recently made the big game by adding integrated shopping, a sect that badysts say could generate $ 10 billion in revenue by 2021.

The survey also surveyed teens about their favorite influencers on different platforms. Among Instagram, include Kylie Jenner and James Charles, who have respectively 131 million and 15.2 million followers and are influential in the world of beauty. Piper Jaffray found that 80% of adolescent girls use online influencers as a starting point to discover new trends in beauty. It's easy to see how much Instagram has become an essential part of online teenage time.

The poll, however, was bad news for the parent company of Instagram, Facebook. The popularity of this site among teenagers continues to decrease, with only 36% of them reporting using Facebook at least once a month, compared to 52% who use it every month in the fall of 2016 .

Twitter and Pinterest were also in the ranks, but far behind Instagram and Snapchat. The report shows that 44% of teens reported using Twitter at least once a month, while only a quarter of respondents said they use Pinterest.
