One of Kelly's lawyers said that the singer disappeared when he was transferred from his federal facility to Chicago to Brooklyn and was not able to talk to him.
Court documents reveal that lawyer Douglas Anton has placed singer R & B on a plane before Thursday afternoon. After landing in New Jersey, Kells was out of the gate before appearing in court.
"I spent the hours following his phone at the MCC Prison Office in New York and the MDC in Brooklyn trying to locate my client, but no one would give me this information even though I acknowledged that I am his lawyer. Anton wrote to Presidents Anne Donnelly and Steven Tiscione.
the New York Daily News stated that the appearance could be delayed until Anton had time to speak to Kelly.
Anton stated that he had been directed to a list stating that R. Kelly was still in Chicago and that he wished to have time before going to court. The Bureau of Prisons website now lists R. Kelly at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center.
Kells' lawyer also called the alleged victims of "groupie remorse" while they were still minors.
