The National Identification Authority (NIA) has revealed that non-Ghanaians can only acquire the Ghana map under one condition.

A statement from NIA's chief of business, Francis Palmdeti, revealed that "A person who is a citizen of Ghana and a citizen of another country has the right to apply for and obtain the Ghana card.

A citizen of another country may later become a Ghanaian citizen, after having followed the required naturalization or registration process provided for by law. "

Peacefmonline.com reports that this clarification follows the acquisition of the Ghana Card by a Togolese citizen, Wilfried Amenovideto, who made a splash on social media.

According to the statement, Amenovideto has both Ghanaian and Togolese identity cards.

The NIA added that the Ghana card issued to it was authentic because it had both Ghanaian and Togolese nationality.

He further clarified that a citizen of another country could become a Ghanaian citizen after following the required process of naturalization or registration provided by law.

Palmdeti's statement also revealed that many foreigners living in Ghana had obtained Ghanaian citizenship through the Ministry of the Interior, either through registration or naturalization.
