The waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, on Wednesday launched ten street sweepers to distribute mainly in Accra and some cities in Ghana.
The $ 2 million investment, according to the executive chairman of the Zoomlion group of companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong responds to the call of President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the introduction of automated sweepers for high traffic areas.
"These street sweepers will be deployed in consultation with government authorities, in various ritual and main streets of selected cities of Ghana, to ensure their optimal use," said Dr. Agyepong at a ceremony to unveil the vehicles in front of the entrance of the State House in Accra.

He thanked the government for its continued partnership.
Dr. Agyepong revealed that Zoomlion had has transformed its operations this year and is on the cusp of deploying the following projects in support of the President's vision to clean up Ghana:
- Project to distribute one million garbage cans to households reduce the burden of disease badociated with poor sanitation in Ghana. This project, launched with a $ 10 million ECOBANK credit facility, was launched in the district of Ablekuma North in Accra.
- Collaboration with the Pentecost Church Environmental Protection Campaign to ensure the effective implementation of the "One House, One Bin" policy with the church and also to raise community awareness about cleanliness.
- We have sent similar invitations to other religious organizations this year, as we intensify our efforts to support the realization of the President's vision of ensuring the "cleanliness" of our towns and villages.
- We enjoyed the collaboration of the Imam Chief, his eminence Sheik Usman Nuhu Sharubutu and other imams, as part of our partnership to educate members of the Islamic faith on the cleanliness of the environment. We are about to intensify our collaboration as we go to the mosques to interact more closely.
- Start of the construction process of a liquid waste treatment plant in Kumasi in partnership with Pureco Limited of Hungary.
- Establishment of a garbage factory in Kumasi
- The construction of a transfer station in Mallam, Accra, has been completed.
- Discussions between industry players within the ESPA (Environmental Service Providers Association) hierarchy to influence input supply of sectoral policies.
- Provide tricycles to the informal sector (cyclists) to enhance their complementary role in waste collection.
- Deepened collaboration with the media fraternity to help reach mbadively to raise awareness among communities.
- The collaboration of the Penitentiary Service of Ghana with Zoomlion to fight against the problem of waste; and I thank the director of prisons here; etc.
Also present at the ceremony was the Deputy Minister of Local Government, m Collins Ntim, who noted that street sweepers help to pick up debris from the streets and reduce the risk of skidding by vehicles.

The Deputy Minister also congratulated Zoomlion for the many roles it plays in keeping the country clean.
